The Chest on Patreon
The Chest is one ambitious little (big) box that keeps expanding and creating more compartments. That’s usually fine, because we like all those boxes and compartments and think our life would be boring and empty without them.
That said, the more boxes and compartments we have, the harder it is to make sure all stories get their due attention. Right now, managing the Chest is a full time job for everyone involved. All that writing, discussing plot points, debating plot holes, scrawling artwork and relentless music-making can easily take up ten hours of the team’s day.
We have a full time job, but sadly it doesn’t exactly come with a salary attached to it (or a pension scheme, or holiday/sick pay). All the work for none of the money!
It doesn’t seem fair, does it? We work so hard ten hours a day, six days a week (sometimes seven), and we can’t even buy ourselves a chocolate-infused treat at the end of it!
If you’re just as outraged by this as we are, we have just the thing for you!
Patreon is, in their own words, “a membership platform that makes it easy for creators to get paid”. This means that people who like our work and want to ensure it continues to exist can give us a small amount of money every month in exchange for a certain special reward. If you become our patron (like those rich aristocrats in the 1700s! Fancy, important, and not as outdated as one would think!) your money pays our salary and you get something extra we make only for our patrons. And, of course, we continue to explore the Chest’s compartments and post our stories for your enjoyment. It’s a win-win situation!

Iron Key – $1/month
This common Iron Key unlocks early access to all chapters from every story in the chest. I will post chapters here one week before they become available elsewhere.
You will also get an early look (and chance to give feedback) on cover art and book synopsis when those become available.
Secret Key – $3/month
This Secret Key unlocks everything the iron key does, plus a sneaky look at unpublished extra material and trivia. These include scenes that didn’t make it to finalised chapters, background information written as part of character building, and anything else that won’t be used in chapters and is no longer spoiler.
Shadow Key – $5/month
This Shadow Key unlocks everything the previous keys do, plus a peek in the shadowy corners of the chest where the current book drafts are kept.
Heart Key – $10/month
This Heart Key unlocks everything the previous keys do, plus a personalised thank you card from a character of your choice.
It’s a thank you from the heart!
Golden Key – $15/month
This Golden Key unlocks everything the previous keys do, plus a personalised letter from a character of your choice.
You also get access to special fortnightly reports on the stories’ progress, with materials not shown anywhere else. These will be more in-dept than the open posts and the rewards for the Iron Key, and will include things like draft artwork and music.

Star Key – $20/month
You are a star! This Star Key unlocks everything the previous keys do, plus you get free signed copies of my books!
Not only that, but I’ll name you in a “Thanks to all my amazing patrons, especially…” section in every post, chapter, and book I publish.

All hail the mythic hero! This Mythic Key unlocks everything the previous keys do, plus you get to name a new character in a story of your choice.

What a generous soul you are! This Spirit Key unlocks everything the previous keys do, plus you get to create your very own character to appear in one of the stories.
